Support the people affected by earthquakes in Turkey!

Mission Central reports that some 50,000 people have died from the earthquakes that have plagued Turkey this year. In fact the February 6, 2023 earthquake is the deadliest natural disaster in modern history. If you would like to donate supplies please bring them to worship on Sunday mornings or set up a time with Eileen to drop them off at the HUB. These items are due by May 21 so that they can be taken to Mission Central in time to be included in their shipment. A list of items includes:

• Kids underwear

• Kids socks

• Kids summer shoes

• Kids slippers

• Adult slippers

• Men underwear

• Women underwear

• Toothpaste

• Toothbrush

• Shampoo

• Kids shampoo

• Hairbrush

• Kids summer clothes

Financial donations are also accepted. Please make your check to Covenant United Methodist Church and put Helping Hands HUB in the Memo line.

The following items are needed at the HUB for Mission Central:

Flood/Cleaning Buckets:

• 1 14".35h x 12.19w x 12.19d, 5-gallon (no screw lids) round bucket (buckets from fast food restaurants and bakeries can be used if washed and cleaned. Do not use buckets that have stored caustic chemicals.  Advertisements on the outside are acceptable.)

• 32-64 oz bottle Liquid laundry detergent

• 16-49 oz Liquid household cleaner that can be mixed with water. No spray cleaners.

• 16-34 oz bottle Dish soap, any brand

• Air freshener, 4-8 oz. pump spray or 3 solid or 3 gel fresheners

• 6-14 oz Insect repellent spray: pump spray or packs of 10-20 wipes

• Hand held scrub brush, plastic or wooden handle; no toilet, kitchen or dish brushes, please

• 18 cleaning wipes, Handi-wipes or reusable wipes; no rags or terry cleaning towels, remove from package

• 5 scouring pads, no Brillo,SOS or other metal pads due to rust issues. Nothing with soap built in; remove from wrapper

• 36-50 clothespins, not loose in the bucket; place in a gallon sized sealable bag

• Clothesline: one 50-100 foot cotton or plastic

• 24 heavy duty trash bags, at least 1.5 - 2 mil trash bags, 33-45 gallon size; remove from box

• 5 N95 particulate respirator dust masks; place in bag with clothespins

• 2 pair disposable kitchen gloves; rubber or latex (not light weight hospital gloves; remove from package

• 1 pair work gloves, heavy duty cotton or leather with leather or rawhide palm

• We will accept completed buckets and/or supplies that make up the buckets

Covenant Helping Hands HUB

On May 5, 2015, Covenant UMC became a Mission Central Hub. Our name is Covenant Helping Hands Hub. We are so excited about being able to do hands on ministry in the Clinton, Lycoming and Centre County area.

We have a lot of exciting things planned to reach out to the community and be the hands and feet of God. If there is a need in the community that you think we can help with, please contact us at (570-748-6481).

Mission Projects!

To make the School Kits, we will need: 

Round tipped children's scissors

Hand-held pencil sharpener (1" or longer)

8 1/2 x 11 single subject spiral notebooks or loose leaf paper (No top bound)

Rulers (30 centimeters, hard or flexible, no advertisements please)

Unsharpened pencils (no advertisements please)

Erasers (2-inches or longer)

Crayons (New, 24-count box only)

Two gallon Zip-Loc bags

To make the Health Kits, we will need:

Good quality hand towels (15x25 to 17x27 inches, Kitchen, cleaning and microfiber towels are NOT acceptable)

Wash cloths (adult size)

Combs (need to be sturdy, no pocket combs or picks, at least 6 inches of teeth)

Toenail or fingernail clippers

Bath size soap (3oz or larger, all brands are acceptable except Ivory, Lisa and Jergens soap)

Toothbrushes (Adult size only)

3/4" to 1" width common household band aids

One-Gallon size sealable plastic bags
